Prohormone cycle planning for maximum fat loss: The Journey

Feb 28 2016

As you know by now; prohormones are one of the best supplements for bodybuilding. But how exactly do you use them to make the best muscle gains consistently? We have to be smart when using multiple prohormones during the year, because even though they may be safe, they still cause our bodies to produce testosterone far beyond our natural limits, therefore we have to make sure our we can recover back to normal levels before we start another cycle. This is where cycle planning comes in to play.

When you are using a prohormone, or a prohormone stack, your diet and training needs to be adjusted; especially as you come to the end of a cycle. These do not need to be major adjustments, but they must be made in order to get the maximum benefit out of a cycle.

To start with we’ll go over the diet adjustments that need to be made in order to make the best muscle gains, or maximum fat loss over the course of a cycle, and when you finish.

The very first thing you should do when starting a cycle is to increase your protein intake. Eat more chicken, drink loads of milk, or have an extra shake, whatever it takes to get more protein in to your body! This is true whether you are looking at burning fat or making lean muscle gains. Using a prohormone increases protein synthesis, this means more of the protein will be used towards building muscle. Therefore, eating more protein means more muscle gains. In addition to this, protein also increases your metabolism, so if you are looking for maximum fat loss, upping your protein intake will also help with getting shredded, and you will still be building muscle as well!

When looking at cutting, your carbohydrates don’t want to be very high, however this can cause problems as you will have a lack of energy in the gym. So most people up their carbs, but of course this means slower fat loss. A prohormone will help by giving an energy boost in the gym; therefore you can decrease your carbs and still have super human energy when training.

When you come to the end of a cycle, the carbohydrates will have to be slightly increased in order to combat the lack of energy from the low carbs. Your protein intake can stay the same for a short time if you’re cutting, but if you want to build muscle, lowering the protein intake would be a good idea; otherwise it’s going to waste, as your protein synthesis is now returning to its base levels.

For training, obviously when on cycle you can train a lot harder and for longer than before, that’s fine, an increased focus and aggression will help you towards your goals. The main change when starting a cycle is to increase your reps, but only to a maximum of around 12 to 15. If you were doing sets of 5 before, it isn’t a good idea to continue with this rep scheme. This is because, although you will continue getting stronger, much stronger than if you were not using a prohormone, when you come to the end of a cycle your strength will drop and you will lose confidence and possibly muscle. But don’t worry, there is a solution. The higher reps will mean you have to use less weight, but you will still gain strength and get bigger due to the power if the prohormone. As you come off the cycle, now is the time to lower the reps to around 6 to 8, this allows you to use heavier weight, and still stress the muscle enough to continue making gains (although at a slower rate) after the cycle is finished. You will also continue to burn body fat at the same rate.

Depending on the prohormone, or stack you are using, a cycle normally lasts around 4 to 6 weeks. So can you start another cycle straight away? The answer is, no. You should give your body at least 4 to 6 weeks between cycles. This allows your natural hormone levels to come back up to the level where they were before. This is what the post cycle therapy (PCT) is for, which can be found in certain cycle stacks. The PCT product increases your natural testosterone levels so you can recover and continue building muscle and burning fat while off of prohormones.

With these, small adjustments to your training and diet, along with following a sensible prohormone cycle plan, you should make incredible gains all year round, during your bulk, or when making lean muscle gains, and also during your summer cut.

Good luck and enjoy the journey!
